A tour to the most beautiful villages of Mylopotamos region and interesting workshops of folk art.

Driving through the beautiful mountains of Rethymno, we get the opportunity to learn about the everyday life and traditions of mountainous Crete.

We explore a number of traditional villages in Mylopotamos region starting with Margarites, a lovely village with a centuries-old tradition in pottery. Here we visit pottery workshops to learn more about this ancient art straight from the artisans.

Driving further up the mountain, we stop at the traditional village of Axos, set in a lush landscape with an ancient acropolis and several old churches. Here we get the opportunity to admire the traditional weaving art of village women.

Our tour continues to the historical village of Anogia, a mountain village with a long tradition, especially in Cretan music.

We visit a glass blowing workshop, as well as the workshops of Anogian weavers to further explore the elaborate art of weaving in Crete.

Finally, we learn about the traditional cheese making practices of the region in a cheese factory.

The trip concludes with delicious Cretan food in one of the traditional taverns of the village, or we have the option to make a last stop in the village of Drosia.
